- Orient the inductee to the district's curriculum.
- Facilitate a positive opening of the school year.
- Assist the inductee with short-term and long-term curriculum planning.
- Support the inductee in identifying and solving problems.
- Communicate the District’s Strategic Plan initiatives: Vision Planks & Goals.
- Meet regularly with the inductee in accordance with the following suggested minimal guidelines. The inductee maintains a log of the meetings and submits it by May 1 to the Supervisor of Professional Development.
- Through the first nine weeks of inductee's employment, one (1) half–hour meeting each week.
- Through the second nine weeks of inductee's employment, one (1) half–hour meeting bi–weekly.
- Through the remainder of the first year of the inductee's employment, one (1) half-hour meeting each month.
- Attend the pre–school year mentor and inductee orientation day, as scheduled by the District Induction Council.
- Attend at least one professional development activity with the inductee (this may be an Induction workshop, building-based workshop, professional conference, etc.)
- Maintain professional confidentiality.
- Complete reports requested by the District Induction Council (classroom visitation, checklist, and end of year evaluation).
- Participate in program evaluation.
- Arrange, through the building administrator, to visit a classroom lesson of his/her assigned inductee within the first six (6) weeks of the inductee's employment. Additional visitations are encouraged. Arrangements for coverage may be made with building administrators.
- Arrange, through the building administrator, to have the inductee visit an appropriate classroom lesson, preferably a lesson taught by him/herself.
- Work collaboratively with the inductee.
- Refer and provide professional resources.

Bargaining Unit Members who are appointed as Mentors shall be compensated at the rate of $315 per semester. Payment for supplemental Building leadership positions can be found in section 4.10 Mentors of the current collective bargaining agreement
